I have arrived!

Two timezones and a five hour flight later, I finally made it to San Francisco where I will be going to school for the next nine months. I have taken this open week before classes to get acquainted with this amazing city.

Sorry I haven't been able to post anything in a while. It's been a hectic month and getting settled into my schedule isn't as easy as I previously thought. This semester I will be taking Fashion Business, Fashion Drawing, Sewing and Fashion Color & Design. I'll post some of my assignments when I get more in-depth with my courses.

While my dad was still in town I did a lot of the touristy activities, such as going to Pier 39 and viewing the the Golden Gate Bridge from Fort Point. The city is such an amazing place with so many things to do. If you ever have the opportunity to visit, go! I'll share my food market adventure with you guys later. Till then,

NYFW Favorite - ALEXANDER WANG

Since both Amanda and I have been neglecting the blog a bit, I thought I would start getting back in the groove of things by doing a generic post that all "fashion blogs" do, writing about one of my favorites from New York Fashion Week. Granted, I haven't really had a lot of free time since starting school so I haven't really been able to keep up with all the shows so bare with me.

I just finished watching the Alexander Wang show, and I liked it. I thought the environment he created was cool (the runway and soundtrack) and that it went well with the clothes. I personally am more interested in street wear/ sportswear designers like Wang (Amanda I feel like not so much? Correct me if I am wrong lol) so I really liked the structured garments and gray/neutral color palette (I am also a sucker for crop tops).

But can I just say, I am obsessed with the short, pleated skirts with the wide waistband (photo below) if I had those models' legs I would rock it in a heartbeat. I am also a fan of interesting pants (A thing I so want to learn to do, pants) and Wang had some pretty interesting pants walking down the runway, the ones that kinda reminded me of gaucho pants but cooler and the pants with the interesting shapes (picture no. 5). Lastly, I love a good coat and Wang did that too.

I guess if you couldn't tell he's one of my favorite designers.

PS: I was thinking of doing an illustration of one of the runway looks (since this is also a fashion design student blog and we're supposed to post work we do too)

But for right now you can check out my tumblr for some of my artwork until I get this blog up and running: http://brittttbutter.tumblr.com/

A Change in Plans.

This is Brittney.

So in Amanda's previous post (our first post) it was August 11th and I was planning to go and attend Parsons the New School of Design and now it is August 31st and I have just finished my first week of my sophomore year at Philadelphia University. That's right, I went back to PhilaU. People may think I am crazy for trading in Parsons for Philadelphia University but the school wasn't for me. It also wasn't for me financially since its one of the most expensive schools in the United States.

But there is a lesson to be learned from this. I now realize that I have to take PhilaU seriously (unlike last year) just because it isn't the "best" school doesn't mean I shouldn't give it my best.

My next post will be about my first week of "fashion classes" at Philadelphia University.

Amanda also made it to San Francisco safe and sound. She hasn't started classes yet but she has been out exploring the city.

Why We Started This Blog

Brittney and I started this blog so that we could keep in touch while we're separated across the country. We began our first year of college studying Fashion Design at Philadelphia University together, but now we are transferring to different States. I will be moving to San Francisco to attend the Academy of Art University, while Britt will be starting her new adventure at Parsons in NYC. We'll definitely be experiencing some culture shock and we want to bring you along for the ride. Britt and I also want to bring our readers an inside look into our fashion design process, along with our East and West Coast styles. We hope you enjoy our posts!!                    -Mandy & Britt
